After two years of undergraduate biology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Dr. Gary Fullerton was admitted to the Medical School at the University of Western Ontario in 1974. He completed medical school training, graduating in 1978. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Honor Society.
After completing a rotating internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario in 1979, Dr. Fullerton underwent a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario from 1979 to 1983 and received a fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Canada in 1983.
In the same year, Dr. Fullerton started a solo practice in General Internal medicine in Woodstock, Ontario and has been engaged in this practice since that time.
He served as President of the Oxford County Medical Society from 1987 to 1990 and as Chief of Staff at the Woodstock General Hospital from 1991 to 1994. He has also served as President of Medical Staff at the hospital in the past.
Dr. Fullerton’s current practice includes a wide range of General Internal Medicine patients, including those with acute myocardial infarctions, and treats patients in the Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Units. He uses central lines on these patients in the ICU, as well as insertion and use of arterial lines, temporary pacemakers, central monitoring and infusion lines as well as mechanical ventilators. Dr. Fullerton also does work in Gastroenterology, including gastroscopies, colonoscopies with removal of colonic polyps. Patients with general neurologic problems including lumbar puncture and general hematologic problems including bone marrow aspirates are treated. Dr. Fullerton also does biopsies.
