Dr. Kathy Yip received her medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1980 and graduated with honours. She was awarded the highest standing in Internal Medicine for her graduating year. She completed her Bachelors of Science at the University of Manitoba in 1976 and received the Gold Medal for having the highest standing in the Faculty of Sciences.
In 1986 Dr. Yip was admitted as a Fellow into the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both Nuclear Medicine and Internal Medicine. A highly regarded medical professional, Dr. Yip joined KMH as Medical Director, Canada in 1992.
Prior to joining KMH, she served as active staff in the Division of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Radiology at the Toronto General Hospital from 1986 to 1992 and Associate Staff at Department of Radiology, Mount Sinai Hospital from 1988 to 1992.
Dr. Yip’s academic and administrative appointments include: Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine for the Toronto General Hospital teaching program for the Michener Institute of Technology from 1986 to 1992; Assistant Professor, Lecturer and Program Director of the Residency Training Program for the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Toronto between years 1986 and 1992.
Active in the medical community, Dr. Yip served as Chair and Past Chair of the Nuclear Medicine Section of the Ontario Medical Association (1997 and 1998). Since 2004, she has served as a member of the Independent Health Facilities Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) task force of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. She is a contributor to numerous research studies, publications, paper presentations and regularly offer CMEs on a wide range of topics related to Diagnostic Imaging.
