    Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

The Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor is used to determine blood pressure responses to normal activity.

During each heartbeat, blood is pumped out of the heart through blood vessels and circulated throughout the body. The force with which the blood is pumped out creates a pressure inside your arteries that can be measured. The pressure inside the arteries when the heart beats is known as the systolic pressure. When the heart rests, the measured value represents the diastolic pressure. Having your blood pressure recorded in your physician’s office may not be enough to diagnose high blood pressure, as there are usually variations in blood pressure throughout the day and night. An ambulatory blood pressure monitor, which provides multiple readings, is very useful in diagnosis.
