*Operates mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician. *Performs a full range of mammography technologist duties including screening and diagnostic imaging, needle localizations, and Stereotactic procedures.
*Operates computed tomography equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes under direction of physician. Explains procedure to patient, positions and immobilizes patient on exam table, and observes during scan.
*Takes X-ray exposures of patient following protocol for intensity of radiation and time of exposure. Trained to perform bone mineral density exams and documents the interpretation of test results
*Greets the patient, explains the forthcoming test, reviews the requisition, confirms the accuracy of the screening form, generally prepares him/her for the examination, and completes the patient medical history form.
*Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure in assuring information is documented in accordance with quality standards.
*Prepares patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain co-operation, and minimize anxiety.
*Operates equipment in such a way as to produce the highest possible quality diagnostic result with a minimum level of discomfort to the patient.
*Maintains a Q.A. Manual which includes a list of parameters and the frequency they should be monitored as well as a description of protocol used for monitoring each parameter.
*An advanced level of technical knowledge and skill gained through continuing education and work experience. Also, some degree of supervisory and administrative knowledge and work experience is preferred.
*Is expected to further his or her knowledge and competence by reading, attending courses, and conferences.
Hours of Work
Full time hours available.
The candidate should be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
