    EDITING and PROOFREADING

    The experienced medical editor/proofreader would be required to review and edit medical reports to ensure no errors have been missed, in particular the following:

    • Typographical Errors
    • Grammatical Mistakes
    • Run-On Sentences
    • Punctuation & Quotation Marks
    • Subject-Verb Disagreements
    • Sentence Fragments and Lengths
    • Spelling
    • Apostrophes
    • Comma Usage and Splices
    • Capitalization
    • Tenses

    Requirements: Advanced knowledge of grammar and punctuation rules; medical terminology is an asset. Should possess keen attention to detail and a commitment to high quality; must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and work efficiently to meet tight deadlines. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required as well as the ability to work independently yet enjoys being part of a team as a proactive problem solver.

    TRANSCRIPTION

    • Transcribe and print dictated reports with medical terms and ensure that reports assigned for typing are completed by the end of the day.
    • Type letters, papers, data tables and other correspondence from written or dictated notes.
    • Compile information to complete forms, documents and client satisfaction surveys. May compose general correspondence as required and forward for signature.
    • Proofread work for typographical and grammatical errors; review medical records for completeness.
    • Process completed reports: put together for physicians for delivery by fax, mail out and/or email.

    WORK HOURS

    40 hours per week with variable start time. Will be required to work days, evenings, and weekends according to the time schedules that meet the requirements of the facility.
